Recognized as a global expert in tourism and luxury hospitality and does collaborative work with communities, private sector organizations as well as government entities around the world.

His collaborations include organizations such as the Nebraska Tourism Commission, Dubai-based Jumeirah Group, Tourism Authority of Thailand and, uber-luxury Oberoi Hotels. In 2013, he was invited as the first Professor in Residence by the Venetian-Palazzo resort in Las Vegas to study very large-scale operations in the service industry. (the Venetian-Palazzo is the largest five-star hotel in the world).

Has received many awards including the 2017 University Distinguished Teaching Award and the 2016 Outstanding Teaching Award from University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
